20 heures : Après quelques jours de calme relatif, l’angoisse a fait sa réapparition à Chã das Caldeiras. Une nouvelle coulée de lave, parallèle à celle qui a détruit la moitié nord de Portela, avance « très lentement » vers le village. Cependant, même si la lave continue à avancer, l’activité volcanique long de la fracture éruptive a diminué.
La Protection Civile demande aux gens de rester vigilants car la situation peut changer à tout moment et l’éruption peut s’intensifier, avec une augmentation des coulées de lave.
Si la situation devait s’aggraver, la lave pourrait détruire Portela dans sa totalité avant d’atteindre Bangaeira et, dans le pire des cas, la ville de Mosteiros.
Il convient également de noter que l’inhalation des gaz rejetés par le volcan a causé des problèmes de santé parmi les professionnels de différents secteurs qui ont séjourné longtemps auprès de l’éruption. Par exemple, certains militaires et policiers commencent à souffrir de déshydratation et de diarrhée, de maux de tête ou maux de gorge dus à l’exposition aux gaz et à la poussière.

20:00: After a few days of relative quietness, anxiety is again growing in Chã das Caldeiras. A new lava flow, parallel to the one that consumed the northern half of Portela, has advanced « very slowly » towards the community. However, even though lava continues to move forward, volcanic activity along the fissure has declined.
Civil Defence asks people to remain vigilant as the situation can change at any time and the eruption may increase in intensity, leading to an increase in the lava flows.
If the situation were to worsen, lava might consume the whole of the city of Portela, reach Bangaeira and, in the worst scenario, the city of Mosteiros.
It should also be noted that inhalation of the gases spewed by the volcano has caused health problems among the professionals from various fields who have stayed quite a long time close to the eruption. For instance, some military and police have started to become dehydrated and suffer from diarrhea, headaches or sore throat due to exposure to gases and dust.
