drapeau francais   Depuis quelques heures les webcams (réelle et thermique) montrent un débordement de lave relativement important sur le Stromboli. Comme précédemment, la lave avance sur la Sciara del Fuoco.

drapeau francais   Les webcams montrent ce matin qu’une petite activité strombolienne est de nouveau apparue au niveau du Nouveau Cratère SE au cours de la nuit. L’avenir nous dira si elle annonce un nouveau paroxysme.

drapeau anglais   This morning, the webcams reveal that minor strombolian activity occurred at the NSE Crater during the night. The next hours will tell us whether these are the signs of a new paroxysm.

drapeau francais    Un survol du volcan effectué le 9 avril a permis de constater qu’une zone de fumerolles était active sur la paroi interne du cratère. Les gaz s’échappaient également du fond du cratère qui, de  ce fait, n’était pas visible. Les mesures à l’aide d’une caméra thermique ont révélé une température moyenne de 600°C qui justifierait l’incandescence visible parfois de nuit au-dessus du volcan.

Les dernières observations, les données sismiques et de déformation montrent une stabilité de l’activité et conduisent à maintenir l’alerte volcanique à la couleur Jaune.

drapeau anglais   An overflight performed on April 9th allowed to observe fumarolian activity on the inner wall of the crater as well as at the bottom which could not be seen because of the plumes. Measurements with a thermal camera revealed an average temperature of 600°C which would account for the glow sometimes.observed at night above the volcano.

The latest observations, the seismic and deformation data show that activity is stable so that the alert level is kept at Yellow.

Nouvelles conditions d’accès à l’Etna // New access conditions to Mount Etna

drapeau francais   Un ami sicilien vient de m’indiquer qu’à partir de maintenant, il est conseillé, avant d’entamer une visite à l’Etna, de consulter le site web de la Protection civile pour connaître le niveau de danger.  A noter que le site est en italien et qu’il faut donc connaître la langue de Dante pour comprendre ce qui est écrit !

Le dernier bulletin en date du 14 avril émet un avis de «danger modéré» sur la zone sommitale, ce qui signifie «niveau de pré-alerte».
Autrement dit, on peut atteindre librement l’altitude 2500 mètres. Ensuite, il faut être accompagné des guides pour arriver à la Torre del Filosofo. La zone des cratères est, quant à elle, totalement interdite d’accès… en attendant une nouvelle mise à jour !

Note that the site is in Italian and it is necessary to know this language to understand what is written!

The latest bulletin (April 14th)  issued a notice of « moderate hazard » on the summit area, which means « pre-alert level. »
In other words, you can freely reach the altitude 2500 m. a.s.l. Then you must be accompanied by guides to reach the Torre del Filosofo. However, access to the area of the craters is completely prohibited  … waiting for a new update!
