Sinabung (Indonésie): Nouvelles évacuations // More evacuations

drapeau francaisDes centaines de villageois vivant à proximité du Sinabung ont été évacués ce lundi en raison d’une nouvelle augmentation de l’activité volcanique. Au moins 28 coulées pyroclastiques ont été observées aujourd’hui et tout pousse à croire que le dôme de lave continue à grossir au niveau du cratère. En conséquence, plusieurs centaines d’habitants (1274 officiellement) ont été évacués de plusieurs villages, ce qui porte le nombre de personnes déplacées au cours des dernières semaines à plus de 3000. Les personnes évacuées sont des villageois vivant entre 3 et 5 kilomètres du cratère sur les flancs est et sud-est du volcan. Un petit nombre de personnes qui étaient retournées dans les villages situés à moins de 3 km du cratère ont été évacuées à nouveau. Samedi dernier, 99 familles avaient déjà été évacuées d’un village quand le Sinabung a connu une crise éruptive, avec des nuées ardentes qui ont parcouru jusqu’à 3 km sur le versant sud-est.

At least 28 pyroclastic flows occurred today and there are indications the crater’s lava dome continues to grow in size. As a consequence, several hundred residents (1,274 is the official number) have been evacuated from several villages, bringing the number of people moved in recent weeks to more than 3,000. Evacuees included villagers living between 3 to 5 kilometres from the crater on its eastern and southeastern flanks. A small number of people who had returned to villages within 3 kilometres were evacuated again. 99 families were already moved on Saturday from a village when Mt Sinabung went through a new eruptive crisis, sending hot ash as far as 3 kilometres down its southeastern slopes.

Shindake (Japon): Les habitants de Kuchinoerabu toujours évacués // Kuchinoerabu residents still evacuated

drapeau francaisLes 118 habitants de l’Île Kuchinoerabu qui ont été évacuées après l’éruption du Shindake le 29 mai dernier vivent toujours sur l’île Yakushima où ils ont reçu la visite du Premier Ministre japonais. Celui-ci leur a dit que le gouvernement « viendrait en aide aux habitants qui ont dû être évacués quand le volcan est entré en éruption la fin du mois de mai ».
Il a ajouté que le gouvernement « va travailler avec la préfecture et les autorités locales pour permettre [aux réfugiés] de remettre de l’ordre dans leurs vies. » Il a déclaré aux journalistes que le logement serait une priorité. Le gouvernement doit accélérer la construction de logements temporaires pour répondre aux demandes de personnes qui ont besoin d’être à nouveau réunies. Le gouvernement va analyser l’activité volcanique et essayer de donner la possibilité aux habitants évacués de visiter l’île dès que possible.
Le Premier ministre avait prévu d’inspecter l’île Kuchinoerabu à bord d’un hélicoptère militaire, mais le voyage a été annulé à cause du mauvais temps.

drapeau anglaisThe 118 residents of Kuchinoerabu Island who have been evacuated after the eruption of Shindake volcano on May 29th are still living on Yakushima Island where they received the visit of the Japanese Prime Minister. They were told that the government “would ensure support for residents who were forced to evacuate when the volcano erupted in late May”.

He added that the authorities “will work with the prefectural government and other local authorities to put [the refugees’] lives back in order.” He told reporters that housing would likely be a priority and the government needs to accelerate the construction of temporary housing to meet the requests of people who cherish bonds. The government will analyze the volcanic activity and try to let evacuees visit the island as soon as possible.

The Prime Minister was scheduled to inspect Kuchinoerabu Island aboard a military helicopter, but the trip was cancelled by bad weather.
