Le Lokon est à nouveau entré en éruption ce mercredi à 7h57 (heure locale) avec un panache de cendre de 2 km de hauteur en provenance du cratère Tompaluan.
Le niveau d’alerte est actuellement à 3, même si la fréquence éruptive est en baisse. Il n’y a pas si longtemps, le Lokon se manifestait 2 ou 3 fois par semaine. Le niveau d’alerte a même été élevé à 4 (Awas). En ce moment, la dernière crise éruptive remonte au 10 mars.
L’éruption de ce matin, accompagnée d’explosions, a entraîné un mouvement de panique parmi la population à proximité du volcan. Les gens se sont précipités sur les routes pour observer l’événement.
Le Lokon est actif depuis juillet 2011.

Mount Lokon erupted again at around 7:57 a.m., local time, on Wednesday, sending a plume of ash 2,000 metres into the sky from its Tompaluan crater.
Currently, the alert level is kept at 3, although the frequency of the volcano’s eruptions has continued to decline. Previously, Mount Lokon erupted two to three times a week. The alert level was even raised to 4 (Awas) whereas the most recent eruption was on March 10th.
The eruption on Wednesday morning shocked local residents as it was accompanied by loud bangs. People left their homes and crowded along the main roads to witness the eruption.
Mount Lokon has been active since July 2011.
