Selon un communiqué du Service Géophysique de l’Académie des Sciences russe relayé par l’agence Tass, le volcan a émis le 23 mars un panache de cendre montant jusqu’à 7 km d’altitude, sans toutefois mettre en danger les zones habitées. Aucune indication sur les retombées éventuelles de cendre n’a été communiquée.
Les scientifiques ont rédigé ce communiqué au vu des informations transmises par les stations sismiques installées à proximité du Shiveluch qui ont enregistré un événement sismique d’une durée de 4 minutes sur le volcan.
According to a report from the Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences relayed by the Tass press agency, the volcano released an ash plume rising up to 7 km a.s.l. on March 23rd, without any risks for nearby population centres. No data on the fallout of volcanic dust has been reported.
The scientists drew a conclusion that the event had taken place on the basis of information from seismic observation stations located in the vicinity of the volcano. They registered a seismic event at the volcano having a four minutes’ duration.
