Nyiamuragira (République Démocratique du Congo)

Le site Gorilla.CD – site official du Parc des Virunga – a mis en ligne des photos de l’éruption du Nyiamuragira entre le 23 et le 25 janvier 2012. Plusieurs d’entre elles ont été prises depuis le sommet du premier cône éruptif qui s’était formé le 6 novembre 2011.

L’un des photographes a pu effectuer un survol des coulées. Il dit avoir été ébahi par la vitesse de la lave dont le débit ressemblait plus à celui d’une chute d’eau qu’à une rivière.

The Gorilla.CD website – the official website of Virunga national Park – has released several photos of the eruption of Nyiamuragira taken between January 23^rd and 25^th. Some of them were taken from the top of the first cone that was built from November 6^th 2011.

One of the visitors could fly over the lava flow and was amazed when he saw how fast the lava was flowing. He said « it was splashing and tumbling more like a waterfall than a river. »
