drapeau-anglaisFuego volcano is currently going through a new outbreak of activity. In a report released on January 3rd, INSIVUMEH indicates that ash columns rise up to 7,300 metres a.s.l. Explosions are frequent, with ejections of material 500 metres above the crater. Lava flows are travelling over about 3 km down the Trinidad, El Jute and Las Lajas drainages. Pyroclastic flows might also occur. Ashfall has been observed in several communities but no evacuation of the population is predicted in the short term.

drapeau-anglaisA strong eruption of Momotombo volcano was recorded at 4:22 (local time) on January 3, 2016 and covered much of the summit cone with incandescent ejecta.
After 110 years of sleep, Momotombo volcano awakened on the morning of December 1st, 2015. Four eruptions were recorded on the occasion, sending steam and ash plumes up to 1 km above the summit.
The continuous strombolian activity accompanied with the lava flow effusion ceased during early December.
On the morning of January 2nd, small ash emissions were observed. Weak explosions occurred later in the day.
The intense explosion of January 3rd might have involved a small pyroclastic flow reaching heights between 1.5 and 2 km on the northeast side of the volcano. It remains unclear whether the newest activity indicates a new batch of magma is arriving at the vent and leading to even more intense period of activity, or if is it caused by more superficial processes such as surface pressure released beneath the recently emplaced lava in the summit.
The morning explosion caused no damage, however it was reported to ignite the vegetation on the flanks of Momotomba volcano.

drapeau-anglaisFuego is currently going through a new outbreak of activity, with lava flows in the Trinidad, Las Lajas and Santa Teresa drainages where lava is travelling over distances between 1.5 and 2 km. Loud explosions shake the summit with rumblings like those of a locomotive. The ash column rises to 6 or 7 km a.s.l. before drifting over thirty kilometers, with ashfall over places like Escuintla, Santa Lucia Cotzumalguapa, Yepocapa, Morelia, Santa Sofia and Panimache I and II. In its latest bulletin of 16 December, INSIVUMEH does not exclude strong strombolian activity with lava flows or pyroclastic flows in the Trinidad and
Las Lajas drainages in the coming days.
