Puyehue (Chili)

drapeau francaisOn pouvait lire dans la presse ces derniers temps qu’un nuage de cendre émanait de la zone de rift du Cordón Caulle, à l’intérieur du complexe volcanique Puyehue-Cordón Caulle. Ce nuage apparaissait sur les images satellitaires. Toutefois, même si la cendre semblait avoir été émise récemment, elle était probablement due à sa remobilisation au sol par les vents violents qui soufflaient alors sur la région. De plus, aucun signe d’un regain d’activité du volcan n’a été détecté.

Le volcan est entré en eruption entre juin 2011 et avril 2012.

drapeau anglaisOne could read in the press these days that an ash cloud was coming out of the Cordón Caulle rift zone, part of the Puyehue-Cordón Caulle volcanic complex. The cloud was visible on satellite imagery. However, although it appeared to be a fresh emission, the cloud was likely re-suspended ash from strong southerly winds. In addition, no other evidence of renewed activity was detected.

An eruption occurred on the volcano between June 2011 and April 2012.

La chèvre du Kawah Ijen (Indonésie) // Kawah Ijen’s goat (Indonesia)

drapeau francaisEn cliquant sur le lien ci-dessous, vous verrez une galerie de photos montrant un rituel qui a eu lieu le 17 décembre 2013 sur le Kawah Ijen. Chaque année, les mineurs de soufre sacrifient une chèvre dont ils enterrent la tête dans le cratère du volcan. Le but de ce sacrifice est d’éloigner pendant une année les dangers qui les menacent. Les conditions de travail très difficiles de ces ouvriers ont été décrites à maintes reprises.

Les offrandes sont fréquentes sur les volcans indonésiens. L’une des cérémonies les plus connues a lieu en août sur le Mont Bromo. Des centaines d’habitants du Tengger (enclave hindouiste) se rassemblent chaque année sur la lèvre du cratère actif où ils jettent à l’attention du dieu de la Montagne des offrandes faites de riz, fruits, légumes, fleurs et volailles. C’est la cérémonie du Kesodo née d’une légende que vous pourrez lire à cette adresse :

drapeau anglaisBy clicking on the link below, you will see a photo gallery showing a ritual is performed on December 17th 2013 by the sulphur miners of Kawah Ijen who slaughter a goat and then bury the head in the crater of the volcano. The sacrifice is performed to ward off potential disasters for the next year. The very hard working conditions of the miners have been described a lot of times.

Offerings are frequent on Indonesian volcanoes. One of the best known takes place in August on Mount Bromo when hundreds of thousands Tenggerese gather at the active crater to present offerings of rice, fruit, vegetables, flowers, poultry and other local produce to the God of the Mountain in a ceremony called the Kesodo Ceremony.
