Sotará connaît actuellement un regain d’activité qui justifie le passage du niveau d’alerte à la couleur jaune (« modification de l’activité volcanique). Entre le 8 et le 14 août, 110 séismes de M 0,2 à 1,6 ont été enregistrés et 151 autres événements ont été observés entre le 15 et le 21 août. Leur profondeur se situe entre 2 et 6 km, avec des épicentres localisés entre 0,1 et 5 km au NE du sommet. Les inclinomètres ont enregistré un certain gonflement du volcan au niveau de la zone sismique la plus active. Toutefois, les images délivrées par la webcam ne montrent pas de changements dans la morphologie du volcan.

Sotará is currently going through a new outbreak of activity which justified the elevation of the alert level to Yellow (“changes in the behaviour of volcanic activity”). Between August 8^th and 14^th, the seismic network recorded 110 magnitude 0.2-1.6 events mainly located in an area 0.1-5 km NE of the peak, at depths of 2-6 km. Another swarm of 151 events was recorded between August 15^th and 21^st. Inflation was detected in the NE area, coincident with the zone of increased seismicity. Webcam images show no morphological changes
