Le Geohazards Department indique qu’il a enregistré des changements significatifs dans l’activité volcanique et a fait passer de deux à trois le niveau d’alerte pour Ambrym . Il est possible que cette hausse de l’activité se solde par une éruption mineure et tous les visiteurs sont fortement invités à garder une distance d’au moins deux kilomètres par rapport au cratère du Benbow et trois kilomètres par rapport à celui du Marum.
Le Département ajoute qu’«il est très important que les communautés, les villages, les visiteurs et les agences de voyages considèrent très sérieusement cette information pour éviter les bombes volcaniques, les gaz, les cendres et autres dangers liés à des activités géothermales».

IMPORTANT INFORMATION.

The Geohazards Department indictes it has recorded drastic changes in the volcano’s activity and has increased the alert level for Ambrym from two to three. There is a possibility the increased activity might result in a minor eruption and all visitors are strongly advised to keep a distance of at least two kilometres from the Benbow crater and three kilometres from the Marum crater.

The Department adds that “it is very important that communities, villages, visitors and travel agencies seriously consider this information to avoid volcanic projectiles, gases, ashes and other geo-thermal hazards”.
