Au vu de la sismicité et du tremor éruptif, l’activité semble moins intense mais encore soutenue dans la Bocca Nuova, comme le confirme l’incandescence encore visible sur les webcams. Comme je l’indiquais précédemment, un tel épisode strombolien dans ce cratère n’a rien d’exceptionnel et peut se prolonger pendant plusieurs semaines. Ce fut la cas en 1998, année où la Bocca Nuova offrait un beau spectacle photographié ci-dessous depuis le cratère NE, avec les lumières de Catane en toile de fond.
Judging from seismicity and the eruptive tremor, activity seems to be less intense but still vigorous inside Bocca Nuova. This is confirmed by the incandescence that can still be seen on the webcams. As I put it previously, such an episode of strombolian activity is by no means exceptional in this crater and can last several weeks. This is what happened in 1998 when Bocca Nuova offered a nice show that I photographed from the NE Crater, with the lights of Catania in the background.
