Voici quelques informations supplémentaires sur l’activité sismique (et volcanique ?) en Arabie Saoudite, diffusées par John Seach sur son site web (www.volcanolive.com). Le volcan concerné est Harrat Lunayyir, au NE du pays. De nouvelles secousses sismiques ont été enregistrées mardi dernier. La plus forte était de M 5,7. Les séismes ont ouvert des fractures dans le sol. Au total, 2289 personnes ont été évacuées sur un rayon de 20 km autour du volcan, à 240 km au nord de Madinah. Les évacuations ont été décidées après qu’une trentaine de séismes (M3 – M5,4) aient été enregistrés. Les écoles resteront fermées pendant deux semaines à Umlaj.   .

The name of the volcano is Harrat Lunayyir, to the NE of the country. More earthquakes occurred on Tuesday May 19^th. The largest earthquake measured magnitude 5.7. The earthquakes produced cracks in the ground. A total of 2,289 people were evacuated from a 20 km radius around the volcano, 240 km north of Madinah. Evacuees were housed in Yanbu. The evacuations took place as 30 earthquakes were recorded between 3 and 5.4 on the Richter scale. Local authorities have announced the closure of schools for two weeks in Umlaj.
