Ce matin à 7h25, le Cratère SE a connu une crise éruptive qui a duré environ 75 minutes, avec un épisode de fontaine de lave et une émission de matériaux incandescents qui sont retombés sur la zone sommitale. Cependant, la couverture nuageuse a rendu quasi impossible l’observation du phénomène. Le nuage de cendre produit par l’éruption s’est ensuite dirigé vers Reggio de Calabre.
Un survol effectué en toute fin de matinée par l’INGV a permis d’observer deux coulées de lave à environ 3000 mètres d’altitude. L’une démarre sur le versant SE de la Bocca Nuova et se dirige vers le Sud à une vitesse d’environ 10 mètres à l’heure. L’autre se dirige vers la Valle del Bove.

This morning at 7:25, the SE Crater went through an eruptive crisis that lasted 75 minutes or so, with an episode of lava fountaining and incandescent material that fell on the summit area. However, the clouds that blanketed the volcano did not allow to well observe the phenomenon. The ash cloud generated by the eruption was then blown away towards Reggio di Calabria.
A helicopter flight performed late this morning by the INGV allowed to see two lava flows at 3,000m a.s.l. The former is starting on the SE flank of the Bocca Nouva and is travelling South at a speed of about 10 metres per hour. The latter is flowing into the Valle del Bove.
