from several vantage points: public viewpoint on the  Sciara del Fuoco (400 m a.s.l.) summit of Pizzo (with guide) and from Ginostra.

Kilauea (Hawaii / Etats Unis)

drapeau anglais   HVO indicates that in the first hours of Saturday, April 20th, a vigorous lava flow started to gush from the northern spatter cone within Pu`u `O`o crater. It filled the northern part of the crater floor and spilled over the eastern rim. The lava flow became less active on Sunday and yesterday’s report indicated that “there was no new lava activity at Pu`u `O`o”.

On Sunday, HVO wrote that “the Kahauale’a flow was dead except for a small breakout at the base of the Pu`u `O`o cone”. The Peace Day flow continues to enter the ocean at 3 locations.

At the summit, the level of lava within Halema’uma’u pit crater keeps fluctuating but is currently quite low within the crater.

drapeau anglais   Based on analyses of satellite imagery and some photos that can be found on the web, it seems Karangetang is quite active these days. The Darwin VAAC reported that on April 9th an ash plume from Karangetang rose to an altitude of 4.3 km a.s.l. and drifted over 45 km. The Indonesian press reports lava flows travelling 150 metres and rock avalanches over 2 km down the flanks of the volcano.

The National Geographic released a photo taken on April 4th that confirms this information.
