Après une forte augmentation du tremor éruptif au début du weekend (il était remonté à 60% de sa valeur au début de l’éruption), on assiste à un certain déclin. Hier, le tremor était à 40% de sa valeur initiale. Dans le même temps, la lave continue à s’écouler du Cratère Dolomieu à 2500 m d’altitude en un tunnel de 4 ou 5 mètres de largeur. Après avoir recouvert le replat au pied du cône sommital, les coulées continuent à avancer et se trouvent maintenant sur les Grandes Pentes où leur front se trouve à environ 1500 m d’altitude. On pouvait lire hier dans le Journal de l’Ile qu’elles sont très visibles du littoral est, mais ont encore une longue distance à couvrir avant d’atteindre la route.
After a strong increase in the eruptive tremor early in the weekend (60% of its value at the start of the eruption), there has been a decline. Yesterday, the tremor was at 40% of its initial value. Meantime, lava is still flowing out of the Dolomieu Crater in a tunnel that is 4 -5 metres wide. After covering the base of the summit cone, the lava flows are moving down the slope and have reached the Grandes Pentes where the front is located at 1500 m a.s.l. or so. One could read in yesterday’s issue of the Journal de l’Ile that they can be seen from the eastern coast but that thery still have a long way to go before getting to the road.
