Suite à une augmentation de la sismicité et du dégazage depuis le mois d’août et la fin du mois de septembre 2017, les autorités indonésiennes ont relevé à 2 le niveau d’alerte du volcan Lewotolo le 8 octobre. Ces mêmes autorités ont demandé à la population et aux touristes de respecter une zone de sécurité de 2 km de rayon autour du volcan.
La dernière éruption du Lewotolo a débuté le 2 janvier 2012 et a pris fin 12 jours plus tard. Elle avait un VEI de 1.

Due to an increase in seismicity and degassing since August and the end of September 2017, Indonesian authorities raised the alert level for Lewotolo volcano to Level 2 (Alert) on October 8th. Authorities have warned people living near the volcano and tourists not to climb the volcano.around which a 2-km exclusion zone has been recommended.
The last eruption of this volcano started on January 2, 2012 and ended 12 days later. It had Volcanic Explosivity Index (VEI) of 1.
