Violent séisme au Chili // Powerful earthquake in Chile

drapeau-francaisUn puissant séisme de M 7,6 a frappé le sud du Chili à 14:22 TU le 25 décembre 2016. L’USGS a relevé une profondeur de 34,6 km. L’épicentre a été localisé à 39,4 km au SSO de Puerto Quellón, 88,9 km au S de Chochi et 105,3 km au S de Castro.
Une alerte tsunami a d’abord été déclenchée avant d’être annulée. La Protection Civile chilienne a ordonné l’évacuation des zones côtières de la région de Los Lagos.

A tsunami alert was first triggered and cancelled later. Chile’s national emergency office ordered the evacuation of coastal areas of Los Lagos region.

Neige et glace du Groenland // Snow and ice in Greenland

drapeau-francaisCette année encore, nous n’aurons pas de Noël blanc et aucune chute de neige digne de ce nom n’est prévue en France d’ici 2017. Pour compenser, voici quelques photos aériennes du Groenland et de la Mer de Beaufort que j’ai prises en septembre 2016 en me rendant en Alaska. Comme l’ensemble de l’Arctique, le Groenland est en train de fondre et il se pourrait bien que ces images de neige et de glace soient bientôt de lointains souvenirs.

To compensate, here are some aerial photos of Greenland and the Beaufort Sea that I took in September 2016 while flying to Alaska. Like the Arctic as a whole, Greenland is melting and these images of snow and ice might soon become distant memories.
