La situation ne semble pas avoir évolué depuis hier. Selon un rapport du bureau de Nations Unies pour la Coordination des Affaires Humanitaires, un lac de lave serait en formation à l’intérieur du cratère. La sismicité ne semble pas avoir augmenté depuis hier.

Le responsable de l’observatoire du Karthala évoquait hier trois possibilités pour la suite des événements : 1) une baisse de la sismicité, 2) l’apparition de fractures sur le flanc du volcan d’où s’échapperaient des coulées de lave, 3) une augmentation de l’activité sismique et de la production de magma, avec un débordement du cratère.

The situation doesn’t seem to have changed since yesterday. According to a report released by the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), « an overflight of the crater indicated that a lava lake is in formation in the crater, [but is] confined within the crater. » Seismicity doesn’t seem to have increased since yesterday.
The scientist in charge of the Karthala Observatory envisaged yesterday 3 possibilities for the days to come: seismic activity could decrease; cracks could occur on the flank of the volcano, resulting in lava flowing down the side of the mountain; or seismic activity could intensify and increase magma production, which could then flow over the crater.
