Le volcan est entré dans sa 8ème semaine d’éruption (commencée le 30 août dernier). Actuellement, le piton La Wouandzani a cessé toute activité et son voisin émet irrégulièrement des projections de lambeaux de lave. Les coulées ont recouvert environ 90% du plancher du Cratère Dolomieu. D’après le Journal de l’Ile, l’éruption ne semble pas prête à s’arrêter car le tremor éruptif a de nouveau pris de la vigueur et atteint 40% de sa valeur initiale. Mais avec le Piton de la Fournaise au caractère ô combien fantasque, tout pronostic est hasardeux!
The volcano has now been erupting for 8 weeks. Today, the piton La Wouandzani has stopped its activity while its neighbour is still ejecting chunks of lava in an irregular way. 90% of the floor of the Dolomieu Crater are covered with the lava from the current eruption which does not seem to be about to stop. Indeed, the eruptive tremor is at 40% of its initial value. Yet, owing to the whimsical mood of the Piton, it would be very risky to make any forecast!
