Dans sa dernière édition, le journal La Sicilia indique que le spectacle offert en ce moment par le Stromboli entraîne un boom touristique rarement vu sur l’île. Il est pratiquement impossible de trouver un lit et les restaurants affichent complet. Les pêcheurs ne sont pas fous ; ils ont compris que leurs bateaux pouvaient transporter les badauds devant les coulées de lave qui arrivent en mer. En conséquence, il y a embouteillage d’embarcations devant les plages de Piscita, Ficogrande et surtout Scari, là où arrivent bateaux et aliscaphes.

En revanche, les touristes ont délaissé l’île de Vulcano où les infrastructures touristiques accusent une baisse de fréquentation de 30 pour cent.
