Un séisme de M 3.4 a été enregistré sur le Katla à 13 h 41 le 14 décembre 2016, à une profondeur de 0,1 km. Comme les événements précédents, il n’était probablement pas lié à une ascension du magma, mais plutôt au mouvement des fluides hydrothermaux sous le volcan. Aucune réplique ne s’est produite.
Fin novembre, un groupe de scientifiques a remplacé un certain nombre d’appareils de mesure au bord de la caldeira du Katla. Vous pourrez les voir au travail en cliquant sur le lien ci-dessous. C’est mieux si vous comprenez l’islandais, mais la vidéo offre des vues intéressantes du volcan.

An M 3.4 earthquake was registered on Katla volcano at 1:41 pm on December 14th 2016, at a depth of 0.1 km.Like the previous events it was probably not linked to any magma ascent, but rather to the movement of hydrothermal fluids beneath the volcano. No afttershocks have occurred.
Late in November, a group of scientists replaced a number of meters on the edge of the volcano’s caldera. You can watch them install the equipment by clicking on this link. It is better if you understand the Icelandic language, but the video offers interesting views of the volcano.
