drapeau francais11h30 : Après la chute brutale indiquée dans ma note précédente, le tremor montre une grande irrégularité et fait alterner les épisodes de hausse et de baisse. De toute évidence, une petite activité strombolienne se manifeste périodiquement au sommet du NCSE. Les conditions météo ne permettent pas de voir en ce moment si la lave continue à s’écouler sur le versant oriental du cône. A 5h30 du matin, la webcam LAVE montrait que la coulée était toujours d’actualité.

The odds are that a small strombolian activity is taking place from time to time at the summit of the NSEC. The current weather conditions do not allow to see whether lava is still travelling down the eastern flank of the cone. The flow could last be seen at 5:30 on the LAVE webcam.

drapeau francais18 heures: Le tremor est resté irrégulier toute la journée. Ce soir, une petite activité strombolienne anime toujours le sommet du NCSE tandis que la lave continue à s’échapper d’une bouche sur le versant E du cône.

 drapeau anglais18 :00 : The tremor has been irregular all through the day. This evening, some slight strombolian activity can be observed at the summit of the NSEC while lava is still coming out of a vent on the eastern flank of the cone.

 

Etna (Sicile / Italie): Situation stable?

drapeau francais8 heures: L’Etna est resté invisible cette nuit à cause de la couverture nuageuse. Toutefois, le tremor se maintient quasiment au même niveau qu’hier. Cela signifie que l’activité strombolienne et effusive se poursuit probablement au niveau de la bouche située sur le versant SE du Nouveau Cratère SE.

12 heures: On observe en ce moment une forte hausse du tremor. Malheureusement, la visibilité n’est pas excellente. Attendons pour voir ce que nous réserve l’Etna!

20 heures : Le tremor a joué au yo-yo au cours de la journée. Ce soir, la webcam L.A.V.E. montre que l’activité n’a guère varié sur le Nouveau Cratère SE, avec une belle effusion de lave.

drapeau anglais8:00: Mount Etna has remained invisible during the night because of the cloud cover. However, the tremor has kept the same level as yesterday. This means that strombolian and effusive activity is probably going on at the vent on the SE flank of the New SE Crater.

12:00: One can see right now a strong increase in the tremor. Unfortunately, visibility is not very good. Let’s see how the situation will develop in the coming hours.

20:00: The tremor has been quite irregular today. Tonight, the LAVE webcam shows us that activity has not much changed on the NSEC, with a nice effusion of lava.

drapeau francais   Les webcams montrent ce matin qu’une petite activité strombolienne est de nouveau apparue au niveau du Nouveau Cratère SE au cours de la nuit. L’avenir nous dira si elle annonce un nouveau paroxysme.

Guatemala: Le Pacaya sort de son silence // Pacaya is waking up

drapeau francais   Après trois années de calme relatif, le Pacaya est à nouveau entré en activité. Des épisodes stromboliens sont observés dans le cratère Mac Kenney, avec des projections incandescentes visibles de nuit. Cette activité produit des éboulements dans le secteur d’effondrement sur le versant ouest du volcan. La dernière éruption du Pacaya en 2010 avait donné naissance à une coulée de lave de 5 km de longueur sur le flanc sud.

 

drapeau anglais   Pacaya has started erupting again after 3 years of quiescence. Strombolian eruptions are observed at the MacKenney crater with incandescent ejections that can be seen at night. This activity generates rockfalls in the collapse area on the western flank of the volcano. The previous eruptions in 2010 produced a 5-km long lava flow down the south flank.
