San Cristobal (Nicaragua)

drapeau anglais   An increase in seismic activity and small-scale eruptions at San Cristobal volcano on Friday put the Nicaraguan Army on alert. INETER registered some 14 mini-eruptions, accompanied by a cloud of gas and ash over the crater. However, all volcanic activity was concentrated inside the crater, and therefore should not be a danger to the 20 communities situated within a five-kilometre radius of San Cristobal.
In a report released late in the afternoon on June 7th, INETER indicated that volcanic activity had decreased and that the past small-scale eruptions were part of a frequent behaviour of San Cristobal.

drapeau anglais   The situation has not changed on the volcano where strong seismicity is still registered. KVERT indicates that “explosive-effusive eruption continues: lava flows continue to effuse from the Southern fissure on Tolbachinsky Dol. A thermal anomaly can be seen on satellite images in the northern part of Tolbachinsky Dol.”

The alert level is kept at Orange. So is the alert level of Karimsky, Kizimen and Shiveluch.

Copahue (Chili/Argentine): Baisse de l’activité / Activity is declining

drapeau anglais   Due to a decrease in activity, the alert level of Copahue has been lowered from Red to Orange. Civil alert has changed to Yellow, so people can return to their homes.

drapeau anglais   Mount Kerinci erupted on Sunday, spewing gas and ash as high as 600 metres. The eruption occurred at 8:43 a.m. local time. People panicked, pouring out of their houses worried that a bigger eruption would follow. Half hour after the eruption, several villages in Gunung Tujuh district were blanketed in thick black ash, sparking concern for food crops, but heavy rain after the ash shower washed the crops clean.

Mt Kerinci last erupted in 2009. Activity increased in July 2011 with tremors recorded in October that year.
