La lave continue à circuler en tunnels depuis sa source sur le Thanksgiving Eve Breakout (TEB). Elle forme deux coulées sur la plaine côtière à proximité de Kalapana. La coulée la plus à l’est a détruit dans la nuit de samedi à dimanche une maison en bordure de la route 137.
Un autre front de coulée a atteint l’océan dimanche en début d’après-midi. Cette évacuation vers le Pacifique s’ajoute à une phase de dégonflement du Kilauea. Cela pourrait réduire l’alimentation des coulées qui menacent d’autres habitations à Kalapana.
Lava from the TEB vent is flowing through tubes and dividing into two flows on the coastal flat near Kalapana. The easternmost flow destroyed a house along highway 137 in the early hours of Sunday. Another flow reached the ocean Sunday early in the afternoon. Establishment of a robust ocean entry, in addition to the ongoing DI deflation at the summit of Kilauea may temporarily slow the progress of the flows that threaten more houses in Kalapana.
