Comme son nom l’indique, le Catalogue est en anglais. C’est un outil interactif qui propose des informations sur les 32 systèmes volcaniques islandais. Il offre une foule d’informations sur les volcans, tels que la fréquence des éruptions, le niveau d’activité, les champs de lave, l’activité sismique, des photos et des descriptions de chaque volcan.
Le Catalogue sera mis à jour si une nouvelle éruption survient ou si de nouvelles informations sont publiées sur un volcan en particulier.
L’idée de ce Catalogue des Volcans Islandais est née alors que la volcanologue Evgenia Ilyinskaya était en Islande pendant l’éruption de l’Eyjafjallajökull en 2010. Il s’agit d’une collaboration avec l’Icelandic Met Office, l’Institut des Sciences de la Terre de l’Université d’Islande et le Département de Protection Civile.

The Catalogue, which is in English, is an interactive web-based tool and includes information about Iceland’s 32 volcanic systems. It offers a wealth of information about the volcanoes, such as the frequency of eruptions, activity status, lava fields, seismic activity, and photos and descriptions of every volcano.

The Catalogue will be updated if a new eruption occurs or if new information is released about a specific volcano.

The idea of the Catalogue of Icelandic Volcanoes was born when volcanologist Evgenia Ilyinskaya was in Iceland during the 2010 Eyjafjallajökull eruption. It is a collaboration of the Icelandic Met Office, the Institute of Earth Sciences at the University of Iceland, and the Civil Protection Department.
