San Cristobal (Nicaragua)

drapeau francais   Une augmentation de l’activité sismique du San Cristobal et de petites explosions dans la matinée de vendredi ont mis l’armée en alerte. L’INETER a enregistré 14 explosions de faible intensité qui se sont accompagnées de nuages de gaz et de cendre. Toutefois, cette activité est restée concentrée à l’intérieur du cratère et ne devrait pas représenter un danger pour les 20 villages situés dans un rayon de 5 kilomètres du volcan.

Dans un bulletin diffusé en fin de journée le 7 juin, l’INETER indiquait que l’activité avait diminué et que les dernières explosions faisaient partie d’un comportement habituel du San Cristobal.

 

drapeau anglais   An increase in seismic activity and small-scale eruptions at San Cristobal volcano on Friday put the Nicaraguan Army on alert. INETER registered some 14 mini-eruptions, accompanied by a cloud of gas and ash over the crater. However, all volcanic activity was concentrated inside the crater, and therefore should not be a danger to the 20 communities situated within a five-kilometre radius of San Cristobal.
In a report released late in the afternoon on June 7th, INETER indicated that volcanic activity had decreased and that the past small-scale eruptions were part of a frequent behaviour of San Cristobal.

Poás (Costa Rica)

drapeau francais   Voici un résumé de l’activité volcanique du volcan Poás au mois de mai. La température du crypto-dôme était suffisamment élevée pour produire de l’incandescence la nuit. Les températures maximales de 575 et 450 ° C ont été enregistrées le 8 mai et le 30 mai. L’activité du lac était très semblable à celle décrite en mai 2012. Elle se caractérise par des éruptions phréatiques sporadiques et une baisse lente du niveau d’eau. Le 8 mai 2013, le niveau était de 0,5 mètre au-dessous du niveau mesuré le 8 mai 2012. Des éruptions phréatiques ont eu lieu à 11h00 le 1er mai, à 17h00, le 8 mai et à 11h25 et 15h10 le 28 mai. L’activité fumerollienne était variable.

drapeau anglais   Here is a summary of volcanic activity at Poás volcano during May. Temperatures of the cryptodome at Poás were high enough to produce night-time incandescence. Maximum temperatures of 575 and 450°C were recorded on May 8th and 30th, respectively. Activity of the lake was very similar to that reported for May 2012. It was characterized by sporadic phreatic eruptions and a slow decline in the water level. On May 8th 2013, the water level was 0.5 metre below the level measured on May 8th 2012. Phreatic eruptions occurred at 11:00 on May 1st, at 17:00 on May 8th, and at 11:25 and 15:10 on May 28th. Fumarolic activity was variable.
