Tolbachik (Kamchatka / Russie): Vers la fin de l’éruption? // Is the eruption living its last days?

drapeau francais   Les belles coulées de lave du Tolbachik feront peut-être bientôt partie du passé. En effet, l’éruption marque le pas, même si le tremor reste élevé, ce qui justifie la maintien du niveau d’alerte à son maximum. Toutefois, il y a des signes qui ne trompent pas : selon les dernières observations sur le terrain, il n’y a plus d’activité sur le cône éruptif et les coulées sont en cours de refroidissement. Il est maintenant possible de marcher dessus. Une rechute est bien sûr possible, mais il y a de fortes chances pour que l’éruption vive ses derniers moments.

drapeau anglais   The nice lava flows of Tolbachik might soon be a thing of the past. Indeed, the eruption is slowing down, even if the tremor is still high, which accounts for keeping the alert level at the maximum. However, there are sure signs that the eruption is decreasing: according to the latest on-the-field observations, there is no more activity on the cone and the lava flows are cooling down. It is now possible to walk on them. A relapse cannot be excluded but the odds are that the eruption is living its last moments.

drapeau francais   La NASA a mis en ligne une nouvelle photo satellite du Tolbachik prise le 5 avril 2013. On se rend compte parfaitement que le volcan n’est pas composé d’un seul cône mais d’un complexe de plusieurs structures qui se superposent. L’activité volcanique est restée stable au cours des derniers jours.

drapeau anglais   NASA has released a new satellite photo of Tolbachik taken on April 5th 2013.  The image shows quite well that the volcano is not a single peak, but a complex of volcanic features superimposed on one another. Volcanic activity remained stable during the past days. .

Shiveluch (Kamchatka // Russie)

drapeau francais   En cliquant sur le lien ci-dessous, vous découvrirez une image satellite du Shiveluch en date du 3 avril 2013. S’agissant de l’activité volcanique, le KVERT indique que la sismicité est modérée. On observe actuellement des avalanches incandescentes ainsi qu’une forte activité de dégazage. Le niveau d’alerte est maintenu à la couleur Orange.

Trois autres volcans – Bezymianny, Tolbachik et Kizimen – étaient en éruption quand la photo a été prise. On peut les voir en cliquant sur « full image » (attention : le téléchérgement est très lent). Un quatrième volcan, le Kliuchevskoy, émettait un petit panache.

As far as activity is concerned, KVERT indicates that seismicity is moderate. Hot avalanches and a strong gas-steam volcanic activity are currently observed. The alert level is kept at Orange.

Three other volcanoes—Bezymianny, Tolbachik, and Kizimen— were erupting when the photo was taken. They are visible in the “full image” (The download is very slow). A fourth volcano, Kliuchevskoi, exhibited a small plume.
