L’événement n’est pas vraiment exceptionnel, mais après 3 semaines de calme relatif, le Sakurajima est entré violemment en éruption à 15h02 (TU) le 25 juillet, avec un panache de cendre en provenance du cratère Showa Crater, jusqu’à 6 km d’altitude. Le panache s’est ensuite étiré vers le SO.
C’est la 47^ème éruption du Sakurajima cette année, mais c’est la première fois que le volcan envoie un panache à une telle hauteur depuis le 18 août 2013.

The event is not really exceptional, but after 3 calm weeks, Mount Sakurajima erupted violently at 15:02 UTC on July 25^th, spewing ash from its Showa Crater up to 6 km above sea level. The plume then extended to the SW.

It was the 47th eruption of Sakurajima this year, but this is the first time that the volcano has spewed out smoke that high since August 18^th 2013.
