Home Reef (Iles Tonga)

En août 2006, une éruption du volcan Home Reef dans les îles Tonga recouvrait la mer d’une couche de pierre ponce. Après avoir atteint le Vanuatu au bout de 3 mois, la pierre ponce vient de toucher les côtes orientales de l’Australie – distantes de quelque 3400 km – 8 mois après l’éruption…

In August 2006, an eruption of the Home Reef volcano in Tonga covered the sea with a layer of pumice. After reaching Vanuatu 3 months later, this pumice has just reached the eastern coasts of Australia – 3400 km from the volcano – 8 months after the eruption.
