L’éruption du Sinabung continue. Le volcan a émis de volumineux panaches de cendre le 1er Janvier. Depuis mercredi, le volume de lave près du sommet du volcan a atteint près de 2,54 millions de mètres cubes. Selon les volcanologues locaux, si toute cette lave avait été émise en même temps, elle aurait atteint un rayon de 8 km. Les villages situés à proximité seraient complètement détruits.
22 éruptions ont été enregistrées mercredi de minuit à 11h58. Un petit écoulement de lave a été observé quand la dernière éruption a eu lieu. La coulée a avancé jusqu’à 3 kilomètres du cratère sur le versant sud-est.
Selon l’administration de la province de Karo, les habitants de 21 villages et deux hameaux (en tout, environ 19 000 personnes) ont été évacués. Les villages sont tous situés dans un rayon de 5 km du Sinabung.

The eruption of Sinabung continues. The volcano emitted voluminous ash plumes on January 1^st.  Since Wednesday, the lava volume near the peak of the volcano has reached around 2.54 million cubic metres. According to local volcanologists, if all the lava was discharged at the same time, it could reach an 8-kilometre radius. Nearby villages would be completely destroyed.
22 eruptions occurred on Wednesday from midnight to 11:58 a.m. A small volume of lava was seen streaming out of the volcano when the latest eruption took place. The lava flow reached up to 3 kilometres from the volcano’s crater to the southeast.
According to the Karo administration, residents of 21 villages and two hamlets (in all about 19,000 people) have been evacuated. The villages are all located within a 5-km radius from Sinabung.
