Notre incapacité à prévoir avec précision les éruptions volcaniques permet de jouer au jeu des pronostics. Après nous avoir expliqué que le soulèvement du sol avait ralenti dans la région de Svartsengi, le Met Office nous informe aujourd’hui que du magma s’accumule à nouveau sous la péninsule de Reykjanes et les volcanologues locaux affirment qu’une nouvelle éruption pourrait se produire à tout moment. Le sol près de Svartsengi s’est maintenant soulevé davantage qu’avant l’éruption du 18 décembre 3023. Cela montre que la chambre magmatique située sous Svartsengi a désormais reconstitué 75 % du magma évacué par l’éruption de décembre.
Cette situation indique qu’une nouvelle éruption est en préparation. Le site le plus probable est la ligne de cratères de Sundhnúkur, entre Stóra-Skógfell et Hagafell.
Autre question : le Blue Lagoon devra-t-il être à nouveau fermé ?

Our inability to accurately predict eruptions allows to play the game of predictions. After telling us that ground uplift had slowed down in the Svartsengi area, the Met Office informs us today that magma is collecting below Iceland’s Reykjanes peninsula again and experts say another eruption could happen at any time. The land by Svartsengi has now risen more than it did before the 18 December 3023 eruption. This shows the magma chamber beneath Svartsengi has now replenished 75% of the magma expelled by the December eruption.
These developments indicate that another eruption is on the way. The most likely location is the Sundhnúkur Crater Row, between Stóra-Skógfell and Hagafell mountains.
Another question is : Will the Blue Lagoon need to be closed again ?
