Kilauea (Hawaii / Etats Unis)

drapeau anglais.jpgActivity is quite stable, depending on the D/I events which have been quite numerous in the past weeks. By clicking on the two links here below, you will first see the surface of the lava pond, 20 yards wide or so, which is extremely vigorous at a depth of about 200 yards at the bottom of the Halema’uma’u vent (the video was recorded on November 19th). The other video shows an explosive event that followed the collapse of a portion of the vent rim on November 21st.

drapeau anglais.jpgHello again ! I’m back from the Photo Festival in Montier-en-Der, with a record number of visitors this year. I’ll tell you about it in the coming days. I could not be connected to the Internet over the past week but the situation is now back to normal. During the Festival, a visitor told me that an eruption took place on the Galeras volcano in Colombia. He got the piece of news through the LCI TV channel.

Indeed, an eruption occurred at Galeras November 20th at 8:37 a.m. with an eruption column whose height was estimated at 10 kilometres. 1000 inhabitants or so had to be evacuated; they were taken to shelters in Pasto, the capital of Narino department on the border with Ecuador. Traffic restrictions also affected the highways linking Pasto to areas close to Galeras.

Vulcano (Sicile / Italie)

drapeau anglais.jpgAccording to a local volcanologist at the Far Eastern Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, a small flow of lava has started trickling down the south-eastern slope of the volcano this Sunday, after magma filled its crater to the brink He also said the volcano continued to throw red-hot rocks to a height of 200 metres.

The current eruption started in August 2009 after several months of inactivity.
