Il semblerait que le Merapi n’ait pas dit son dernier mot. Voici en substance ce que vient de m’écrire mon contact indonésien : « Je reviens juste du village de Bumirejo et j’ai pu entendre le Merapi, avec de très forts grondements provenant du volcan. Cela fait deux jours que c’est ainsi. Une colonne de fumée gris foncé s’élève au dessus du cratère… Ce n’est pas très rassurant. Si une nouvelle éruption survient, cela va vraiment être un désastre humain… Beaucoup de villageois sont retournés vivre tout près du cratère et ont commencé à reconstruire… »

It looks as if Mount Merapi has not said its last word. Here is the text of a message I have just received from my contact in Indonesia: « I am just back from the village of Bumirejo and I could here Mount Merapi, with loud rumblings coming from the volcano which has done so over the past two days. A column of dark grey smoke is rising above the crater… It is not reassuring. Should another eruption occur, it would be a human disaster. Many villagers have gone back to live close to the crater and have begun to rebuild… »
