Le panache de SO2 émis lors de la dernière éruption a fait un très long voyage! Après avoir dérivé au SE du Japon, il s’est dirigé vers les Iles Marshall dans le Pacifique. Du SO2 a encore été décelé au nord de l’Océan Indien, au sud de l’Inde ainsi que dans le Golfe du Bengale. Des points chauds persistent sur le versant NO du volcan et jusqu’à 6 km au NE.

The sulphur dioxide plume released by the last eruption has travelled a long way! After drifting to the SE of Japan, it reached the Marshall Islands in the Pacific Ocean. SO2 has still been detected over the northern Indian Ocean, southern India, and the Bay of Bengal. Hotspots are still present on the north-western flank of the volcano and up to 6 km to the north-east.
