Selon le PHILVOCS, une longue séquence sismique a été enregistrée sur le volcan à la fin du mois d’août. Dix secousses se sont produites le 28, avec une magnitude de M2 pour deux d’entre elles. Elles furent ressenties par la population et accompagnées de grondements. Les séismes ont été localisés au NE de l’île, dans la zone de Daang Kastila, à 600m – 800m de profondeur. Aucun changement n’a été observé dans la caldeira du Taal. Le PHILVOCS rappelle que l’accès au cratère est interdit au public. Le niveau d’alerte est maintenu à 1, sur une échelle de 5.
According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHILVOCS) ongoing seismic unrest was recorded on the volcano by the end of August. Ten earthquakes occurred on August 28th, two at M2 were felt by residents in a nearby village and were accompanied by rumbling sounds. The earthquakes were located NE of the island near the Daang Kastila area at estimated depths of 0.6-0.8 km. Surface observations indicated no change in the main crater lake area. PHIVOLCS warned that the main crater was off-limits to the general public. The Alert Level remained at 1 on a scale of 5.
